Creating an Exposure Report

An exposure report turns the exposed companies you select in an Exposures workspace into a formatted PDF. It covers their country, exposure status, value chain tier, and exposure types, and traces the paths that connect them to your finished goods. Use it when you need a shareable, point-in-time record of an exposure review.

Availability. Exposure reports are available where enabled for your organization, so you may not see the Report button in every tenant. Creating and viewing reports also requires catalog edit and report permissions; ask your tenant administrator if the button or the Reports tab is missing.

When to Use Exposure Reports

  • When a compliance analyst has triaged exposures and needs to hand a summary to leadership or a customer without giving them workspace access.
  • When you want a dated snapshot of exposure findings for a set of suppliers before statuses or data change.
  • When you need the transaction history behind the exposed suppliers' facilities for further analysis.

Before You Start

  • Open an Exposures workspace. The Report button is available on the Exposed Companies, Exposed Products, T1 Suppliers, and Exposed Suppliers tabs.
  • Filter and triage first. The report reflects each company's exposure status at the time you generate it (see Triage: Statuses & Notes).

How It Works

  1. Select the rows to include. To include every row that matches your current filters, use select all. Rows you uncheck afterward are left out.
  2. In the selection toolbar, select Report.
  3. In Generate Workspace Report, review the Report Title. It defaults to a name based on your selection, such as "Companies Exposures Report".
  4. Optionally, enter Your Company Name. It's printed on the report and used in its narrative. Leave it blank to use your account name.
  5. Select Generate.

The report generates in the background, so you can keep working. Generating usually takes a few minutes. Notifications show its progress, and the PDF downloads automatically when it's ready. If transaction attachments are available, a notification offers them as a separate Attachments (.zip) download.

Find and Download Past Reports

Every report you generate is listed on the Reports tab of the Workspaces landing page, with its title, date, and status (Generating…, Ready, or Generation failed). From each row you can:

  • View — open the PDF in the page.
  • Download PDF — save the PDF. If it's still generating, the download starts automatically when it's ready.
  • Attachments (.zip) — download the transaction attachments, when the report has them.

The tab lists your 100 most recent reports.

Outputs and Interpretation

The PDF is organized into these sections:

  • Title page and contents — who the report was prepared for, when it was generated, the number of exposed companies, and a breakdown by status. Contents entries link to each section.
  • Summary — an At a Glance panel (exposed companies, countries, tiers affected, potential paths, finished goods reached, and input goods impacted), charts of companies by status, exposure type, and value chain tier, and a short written summary.
  • Value Chain Exposure Paths — for each finished good, the paths from its tier-one suppliers to the exposed companies, with each company's country, status, tier, and exposure types.
  • Exposed Companies — a detail block for each of the most exposed companies: the risk lists it appears on, with issuing authority, type, and proximity, and its supplier locations, with last shipment date, address, products, and any attachment sheet. Remaining companies are listed in an Additional Exposed Companies table.
  • Conclusion, Methodology, and a disclaimer.

The report is a point-in-time snapshot of the data and statuses in your workspace when you generated it. Its summary and narrative are assembled directly from that data. They don't add new inferences or scores, so review the underlying exposure detail in the workspace before you act on a finding (see Investigating Exposure Sources).

The attachments download contains a Transactions.xlsx workbook with a sheet for each supplier facility Altana has matched. A facility with no transactions on record shows "None found".

Constraints and Caveats

  • Detail is capped for large selections. The detailed company section covers up to 100 of the most exposed companies, and the report notes how many were detailed out of the total. The rest appear in the summary table. Supplier locations, paths per finished good, and attachment sheets are also capped, so very large reports show the most relevant entries rather than every one.
  • Very large selections fail. A selection that resolves to more than 10,000 companies can't be reported. Narrow your filters and try again.
  • Timeouts. If generation takes too long, a notification says it timed out. Generate the report again. If a status check fails, you can still find the report on the Reports tab once it's ready.
  • Failed reports. A report marked Generation failed can't be retried from the list. Create a new one from the Exposures workspace.
