Opening the Value Chains Canvas
The Workspace Value Chains Canvas is a visual map of an entire value chain, seen from one entity — entities as nodes, the trade relationships between them as edges. It is the same canvas whether you reach it from the Catalog or from a workspace.
What the canvas is for
Wherever you open it, the canvas answers the same questions:
- Who is in this value chain — which companies, facilities, and products sit upstream of the product you started from, and which of them are verified versus suggested.
- How a risk reaches you — the path of goods from a flagged entity through your network to your own product.
- What is actually moving — the transactions behind any relationship, so you can check whether the HS codes are relevant and judge the materiality of the risk.
- At what level of detail — aggregating by tier and grouping by location, organization, product, relationship type, or country to make a complex network readable.

Opening the canvas from the Catalog
Both products and suppliers have a Value Chains tab that opens the canvas. Select a product or supplier in the Catalog to open its detail view, then choose that tab. The canvas loads with your starting entity highlighted everywhere it appears, and what it draws depends on where you started:
- From a product — everything upstream of that product.
- From a Tier 1 supplier — everything upstream of that supplier, at higher tiers.
- From a sub-tier supplier — the full network downstream of that supplier, showing how its goods reach the rest of your network.
From there, everything on Workspace Value Chains Canvas applies.
