Navigating the Catalog

Finding a product

Open Catalog from the left-hand navigation. The catalog list shows your aggregate products. Use the search bar to find a product by name, part number, or stock keeping unit (SKU). Use the column filters to narrow by Harmonized System (HS) code, country of origin, classification status, or other attributes.

The list view shows one row per aggregate product. If a product is manufactured in multiple countries, those configurations are visible when you open the product record.

Reading a product record

Select a product from the list to open its record. The record is organized around the two-tier structure:

  • The top of the record shows the aggregate product: name, description, and SKUs.
  • Below that, each Altana product appears as a separate entry. Each Altana product shows its country of origin, the suppliers associated with it, and its classification attributes (HS code, free trade agreement (FTA) qualification, classification status).
  • Trade attributes marked with an Altana indicator are inferred; those without are values you or your team provided.

To open the value chain for an Altana product, select the value chain view from within the product record. See Value Chains for what to expect there.

Working with lenses

A lens is a saved view that frames catalog data for a specific workflow. It controls which columns appear, which filters are active, and how products are sorted and grouped. Your catalog may have lenses pre-configured for classification, country-of-origin review, duty assessment, or forced-labor screening.

To switch lenses, use the lens selector at the top of the catalog view. Switching lenses changes the display; it does not change the underlying data. The catalog is the same regardless of which lens you are in.

Opening a workspace from the catalog

A workspace is where you apply a lens and perform a specific task, such as classifying products, determining country of origin, or running a United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) qualification. To open a workspace from the catalog, select Open in Workspace and choose the workspace type. The workspace opens against the same catalog data; edits you make in the workspace write back to the catalog.
