Trade Readiness Changelog

This page is the changelog for Trade Readiness and the lenses you work from it: HS Classification, Country of Origin, and Free Trade Agreements. Updates are listed newest first, with the most recent highlighted at the top. These lenses are in limited release and available to selected customers.

September 21 to October 2, 2026

Duties and documents come into Trade Readiness, workspaces can be built from filters, and HS Classification and Country of Origin show their suggestions and confidence in the table.

Trade Readiness

  • Duties in Trade Readiness: duties are now an attribute alongside HS, origin, and the rest. The table shows the headline rate, the side sheet itemizes every tariff that contributes to it, and you accept a calculation to put it on the record. Duties only count as ready once accepted.
  • Anti-dumping, countervailing duty, and quota flags: the Duties section of the side sheet flags any anti-dumping duty, countervailing duty, or quota requirement detected from the HS code. Mark each one as applying or not, with a reason when it does not.
  • Documents tab: the product side sheet lists the product's documents and the documents shared across its value chain, with preview and upload.
  • Workspaces from filters: create a workspace by setting filters, preview the products that match, and choose which analysis lenses to enable. Use Refresh products to re-run the filters as your catalog changes.
  • Trade Readiness by default: new workspaces start with the Trade Readiness lens selected.
  • Missing instead of ready: an attribute that is waiting on an input now says so, such as Missing HS, rather than showing as ready.
  • Not relevant trade agreements: a free trade agreement that does not apply to a product's trade lane now reads as not relevant rather than ready, and those products sort last.

HS Classification

  • Suggested code and confidence: new Suggested HS Code and Confidence columns and filters, with confidence shown as High, Medium, or Low, so you can pull every high-confidence suggestion into one view and accept them together.
  • International codes: for destinations outside the United States, codes are kept exactly as the destination's tariff schedule publishes them, including codes longer than 10 digits.

Country of Origin

  • Suggested origin and confidence: new Suggested COO and Confidence columns and filters.
  • Transshipment detection: when you analyze products with the rules-of-origin calculator, Altana screens for goods likely made in a different country from the one declared and routed through a third. A flagged product shows Potential Transshipment and moves to needs attention until you settle its origin. Available to selected customers.

Altana AI

  • Works with your permissions: Altana AI acts on your behalf with your access, so it reads only what you can see, and its work on a product can only be opened by someone with at least that access.
  • Tested against known answers: changes to how Altana AI works are tested against sets of products with known correct answers before they are released, and it has been run against ten thousand HS classification cases.
  • Save a case as a test: save a product you have worked through in chat as a test with its correct answer, so it is checked whenever Altana AI changes. Available to selected customers.

Free Trade Agreements

  • One row per product: the lens shows each product once, with every agreement that could apply to it.
  • Origin consistency: an agreement on file that does not fit the product's country of origin is flagged as needing attention, and a product without a country of origin shows Missing COO rather than ready.
  • Bulk accept and ignore: act on determinations across many products at once.
  • European Union agreements: qualify imports into the 27 EU member states from 137 exporting countries, across CETA, the EU-Japan agreement, the EU agreements with Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam, Latin America, Pan-Euro-Mediterranean, the Economic Partnership Agreements, the Generalised Scheme of Preferences, and the overseas countries and territories. EU value rules use the product's ex-works and FOB prices. Available to selected customers.

September 7 to 18, 2026

A new Free Trade Agreements lens, a workspace-wide refresh, and a round of usability improvements across the lenses.

Free Trade Agreements

  • New Free Trade Agreements lens: determine whether products qualify for preferential treatment, with Altana AI doing the qualification work and a guide box in the side sheet showing the proposed qualification, the preference criterion, the qualifying pathway, and the confidence.
  • Determine with agent: run a determination from a product's side sheet, or across up to 1,000 products at once.
  • Eleven more US agreements: alongside USMCA, CAFTA-DR, and KORUS, the lens now qualifies products under the US agreements with Israel, Jordan, Chile, Singapore, Australia, Peru, Colombia, and Panama, and the agreements with Bahrain, Oman, and Morocco, where a product can qualify through either a tariff shift or a 35 percent value test.

Trade Readiness

  • Workspace-wide refresh: Refresh trade readiness runs in the background across the whole workspace, with a progress bar and the option to cancel.
  • Clearer dependencies: an attribute waiting on another names only the input it directly needs, so you know which one to settle first.

HS Classification and Country of Origin

  • Likely alternative findings: Findings call out when the value on file differs from the one Altana finds likely, the cases most worth your time.
  • Accepted suggestions stick: an accepted suggestion becomes the value on file straight away.
  • Better ranking: a low-confidence suggestion no longer ranks above the code you already hold.
  • Documents inform classification: Altana AI reads the documents attached to a product before it proposes an HS code.

Country of Origin

  • Origin inputs in the catalog: products can now carry their price and cost bases, the processes performed on them, and textile conditions, loaded in bulk through the Supply Chain Data Template, so value-added tests can resolve without asking you for each figure.

Usability

  • Row interaction: clicking a product name opens its side sheet, rows show clear hover and selected states, and the open row stays highlighted.
  • Readiness at a glance: the product's readiness dot now sits next to its name.
  • Readable reasoning: Altana AI's rationale renders as formatted text, and the suggested code explains what it does when you hover over it.

August 24 to September 4, 2026

Altana AI becomes part of how each lens runs, with its progress visible in the table and its best suggestions leading the guide box.

HS Classification

  • Analyze with run modes: Analyze sends products to Altana AI by default. Hold Shift when you click it to run the fast classifier on its own, or to bring in Altana AI only where the classifier falls short.
  • Recommended suggestions lead: a high-confidence suggestion is marked Recommended and comes ahead of any questions in the guide box.
  • Goods descriptions: the Vague Goods Description column shows a clear Vague flag, a proposed description appears as its own guide box entry, and it arrives with a proposed code rather than holding up the classification.
  • Select all: select every product on the page for bulk actions.
  • Faster classification: classification runs and the lens itself load faster.
  • Fixes: a description is no longer flagged as vague after you accept a better one, and a product with a code on file no longer asks for your input.

Country of Origin

  • No cap on Analyze: analyze as many products as you need in one run.
  • Altana AI on every run: Analyze now runs Altana AI, which uses the rules-of-origin calculator as part of its determination.
  • Nine more import destinations: origin can now be determined for imports into Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Singapore, Mexico, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, each under its own non-preferential rules, alongside the United States and the European Union. Available to selected customers.
  • Fixes: changes made in the side sheet now show in the table straight away.

Across the lenses

  • See what Altana AI is doing: the product header and Findings show when Altana AI is analyzing a product or waiting on your input.
  • Web research: Altana AI can search the web for product information when it works a classification or an origin.
  • Trade Readiness first: workspaces open to Trade Readiness, and lenses are listed in tab order.
  • Cleaner needs-attention list: a vague goods description no longer holds a product in needs attention once its HS code is ready.
