Search, Explorations and the Altana Graph

Search is your entry point into the Altana graph. You start with a structured query, review the results, open a company's profile to verify it, and — when you want to see how an entity connects to the wider supply chain — launch an exploration. This section walks through each step, from your first search to working with a network on the exploration canvas.

How search, profiles, and explorations fit together

The three work as a single investigative flow:

  • Search finds the entities and relationships that match your query and returns them in a results grid.
  • The Company Profile gives you a structured, at-a-glance view of any single company — its identifiers, ownership, exposures, financials, and trade activity.
  • Explorations take an entity onto a canvas where you can expand its supply-chain network, filter it, and trace relationships across multiple hops.

What you can search for

Choose Search from the left-hand navigation, then pick what you want to search for from the entity-type menu. Altana organizes searchable records into entities, relationships, and advanced options:

Every search form works the same way: only one field is required to run a search, and fields are additive, so results match all the criteria you set. You can refine a query further with Boolean operators and tag your work with a Case ID.

Working with your results

Once a search returns, you can shape the results grid to fit your investigation — refine and filter the rows, save your column preferences, and export the data. Select any company to open its Company Profile.

Exploring the graph

To see how an entity connects to the rest of the supply chain, launch an exploration. On the exploration canvas you can navigate a draft, expand its network, apply network filters, focus with network summaries, and share your work once it is saved.
