Role Groups

Who is this for? Tenant user managers who control what users can do across the tenant.

A role group bundles a set of roles and a set of users together, so you can grant access to many people at once instead of one at a time. Add a user to a group and they receive all of that group's roles. Open Settings from the user menu and select the Role Groups tab. For what each role allows, see User Permissions.

You'll see two tables:

  • Default Groups — standard groups Altana provides. You can add or remove users, but their roles are fixed.
  • Custom Groups — groups you create and fully control.

Create a custom group

  1. Select New Custom Group.
  2. Enter a Group Name and an optional Description.
  3. Select Create Group.

Assign roles to a group

  1. Expand the group's row.
  2. In the Roles section, open the role editor (custom groups only).
  3. Select the roles to grant the group, then save. Everyone in the group receives those roles.

Add or remove users

  1. Expand the group's row.
  2. Under Users in this group, select Add Users, choose the users to add (or select all), and save.
  3. To remove someone, select the remove icon next to their name and confirm.

Membership and role changes take effect immediately. To understand what a given role grants before you assign it, see User Permissions.
