Investigating Exposure Sources
An exposure source is the specific company that carries risk into your value chain — the entity listed on a risk list, or tied to one. Once the exposure lens shows you where exposure concentrates, the next step is to trace it: from a product or supplier, down to the sources driving it, and into the evidence behind each one.
Drill in without leaving the table
In the T1 Suppliers or Exposed Products table, click a row's expand chevron (›) to reveal a nested table of the exposure sources connected to that row, with each source's Tier, Type, Network Type, and Proximity. This is how you see the chain: a product or supplier and the exposure sources driving its risk.
Filter within a tab
Narrow the data inside a tab by source, type, risk list, proximity, or status to isolate the exposures you want to work through.
Explore an exposure source
Click an Exposure Source row to open its side sheet, which has three tabs plus a Profile button:
- Network — a supply-chain graph (grouped by location, zoomable) tracing the path from the exposure source up through intermediate suppliers to your organization. Nodes are companies, with their location and connection count. Click a link between two nodes to open a Transactions panel — Transaction Date, Sender Name, Sender Full Address, Receiver Name — with Filter, Columns, Export CSV, and Export Excel. These are the trade records that establish the connection.
- Details — an editable Status dropdown, Country, and a Notes area.
- Exposures — the source's risk hits: Risk List, Type, Proximity, and exposure paths or counts.
Reading an exposure's reasoning
Click an exposure row to open an Exposure Details sub-panel that explains the match: the proximity type (for example, Indirect Exposure), the risk list and its issuing authority (for example, UFLPA-Geofence / US Dept. of Homeland Security), and a plain-language reasoning chain paginated across each indirect connection — for example, "Indirect connection 1 of 18: potentially exposed by 3 degrees of separation. [Company] is owned by [X], which in turn is owned by [Y], who owns sister company [Z], which is associated with the UFLPA-Geofence."
Explore a Tier 1 supplier
Click a T1 Supplier row to open its side sheet, with tabs Value Chains, Overview, and Exposures (plus Profile):
- Overview — Organization Name, Status (dropdown), Status Last Updated, Country, a Notes section (Add Note), and Locations.
- Exposures — the exposure sources beneath that supplier, each drillable into its own detail panel.
Explore a product
Click an Exposed Product row to open its side sheet, with tabs Value Chains, Overview, Exposures, and Documents (plus Product Profile). The Value Chains tab shows a relationship graph for the product.
Key terms
- Exposure source — the company carrying the risk.
- Proximity — Direct (a direct relationship to the source) vs. Indirect (reached through intermediate or ownership connections).
- Side sheet — the product, supplier, or exposure-source detail panel.
