Searching for Directors and Shareholders

Search for individual directors and shareholders to investigate corporate ownership structures, governance relationships, and potential risk exposures.

Overview

You can now start searches directly from directors and shareholders, in addition to companies. This makes it possible to identify key individuals and explore their corporate relationships — useful for ownership analysis, due diligence, and targeted investigations.

How to Search

Search for directors and shareholders using the following criteria:

First Name, Middle Name, and Last Name — For the most accurate results, use these individual fields rather than the Full Name field. First and Middle name searches use prefix matching with fuzzy logic to accommodate spelling variations, and require a minimum of 3 characters. Last Name uses exact string matching for more precise results.
Nationality — Filter by country of nationality.
Entity type — Narrow results by entity type.
Associated Company Names — Search by companies linked to the individual. You can select multiple company names from the dropdown to search across several entities at once.

Tip: The associated company name search currently requires exact matches. For more flexible matching, search for the individual first, then review the "Associated Company Names" column in the results.

Understanding Search Results

Search results display comprehensive information about each individual and their corporate relationships:

Results include only directors and shareholders who are connected to companies.
Results are limited to the top 1,000 matches based on relevance.
Self-shareholding relationships are excluded from results to reduce noise.

Grouping Results

You can group search results by the following fields: Full Name, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Gender, Country of Nationality, and Country of Nationality ISO.

Grouping is not currently available for: Date of Birth, Associated Company Names, Director Address, Email Address, Unique Contact Identifier, or Altana Director ID.

Key Details

Director search and Shareholder search availability may vary depending on your organization's data licensing.
The Full Name field is available but optimized for names that cannot be broken into first/middle/last components (e.g., native language names).
Last name searches use exact matching and are more restrictive — for example, searching for "Oliver Andries" will not return "Olivier Andriès."
