Getting Data In
You do not need a complete dataset to get started. Altana is built to work with what you have today and return value from that starting point. The more data you add over time, the deeper your capabilities become.
Two paths, one foundation
Your starting point is the same regardless of your primary use case: your products and your direct suppliers. From there, the data you add determines which capabilities open up.

How your data is loaded
Altana uses the Supply Chain Data Template (SCDT) as the standard format for loading your product and supplier data. The template is structured around two anchor points:
- T0: your organization
- Always exactly one. T0 represents your company's facility or facilities that receive the products in scope.
- T1: your direct suppliers
- The companies that supply goods or components directly to your T0 facilities. Everything upstream of T1 is what Altana surfaces through the value chain model.
Loading data into the catalog is an onboarding process led by your Altana implementation team or Technical Account Manager. Your team provides product and supplier data in SCDT format and the implementation team handles the load into your catalog environment.
