Catalog Glossary
Altana Catalog Glossary
This glossary covers two layers of vocabulary: the Catalog & Workspaces terms you'll encounter in the interface, followed by the detailed data-dictionary field definitions for the Transactions, Products, Suppliers, and Exposures datasets.
Catalog & Workspaces terms
Catalog — The master inventory of your Products, Suppliers, and Sites. Organized into three top-level tabs: Products, Suppliers, and Sites.
Products — Split into three views: Finished Products (end items you make or sell), Input Products (materials and components that go into them), and All Products (everything combined).
Suppliers — Split into T1 Suppliers (your direct, Tier 1 suppliers) and All Suppliers (the full multi-tier network).
Sites — Physical facilities and locations, including your own site plus network sites.
Tier — How many steps removed a product or supplier is in the supply chain. Tier 0 is your own finished good; higher numbers are deeper upstream. Shown as a single number or as a range (e.g. 2–4) when an item spans multiple tiers; suppliers and products can run Tier 0–5.
Network Type — How a relationship is known. Verified (green check) is a confirmed relationship; Suggested (sparkle/AI icon) is inferred by Altana and not yet confirmed. Deeper-tier entities are more often Suggested.
Facility Linked — On suppliers and sites, whether a specific facility is Linked or Not Linked to the organization.
Aggregate Product — A grouping label applied to products in the catalog.
Workspace — A saved, shareable working surface built on the Catalog, organized into tabs.
Lens — A reusable saved configuration (charts + tables + filters + columns) that appears as a tab in a workspace. The default analytical lens is an Exposure lens (e.g. All Exposures).
Exposure — A risk match. An item is "exposed" when it connects to something on a risk or watch list.
Exposure Source — The specific company that carries the risk (the entity listed on a risk list, or tied to one).
Risk List — The authority list an exposure comes from (e.g. UFLPA-Geofence, Non-SDN Chinese Military-Industrial Complex (OFAC), Uyghur Forced Labor Entity List (DHS), EU Sanctions List). Each list has an issuing authority.
Type — The category of an exposure, such as Forced Labor, Financial Sanctions, Broad Sanctions, Export Controls, Special Entities and Persons, or Corruption/Fraud.
Proximity — How an exposure reaches you. Direct means a direct relationship to the exposure source; Indirect means it is reached through intermediate connections or ownership chains.
Chart — A clickable summary at the top of a lens. Selecting a value filters every table and chart in the lens.
Side sheet — The detail panel that opens from a row, for a product, supplier, or exposure source.
Status — The assessment state of an exposure or supplier: Not Assessed, In Review, Reviewed, Approved, Escalated, or Not Trusted.
Notes — Free-text analyst notes attached to an entity; saved notes record who added them and when.
