Collaborating on Complex Trade Fields

Share and collect trade-critical data — including Country of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, HS Codes, and Materials — with your supply chain partners through product passports.

Overview

Complex trade fields are now fully supported in the collaboration workflow. This means you can exchange the detailed trade and tariff data needed to submit complete information to government authorities — all through the passports you already use with your collaborator network.

All Altana users with Nexus Catalogs will see complex trade fields in their product profiles.

Sharing Complex Trade Data

You can control which complex trade fields are shared with your collaborators through Global Settings.

  1. Navigate to Global Settings.
  2. Toggle sharing on or off for each field individually:

- Country of Origin

- Free Trade Agreements

- HS Codes

- Materials

  1. When sharing is enabled for a field, all entries and statuses for that field are shared automatically with new product passports.

Adopting Complex Trade Data from Passports

When you receive complex trade data from a collaborator, you can choose which fields to adopt.

  1. Open a passport that contains shared trade field data.
  2. Review the available entries for each field.
  3. Adopt individual entries — your existing data is preserved, and new entries are added alongside it.

Status warnings: If adopting an entry would replace a Confirmed status (Verified for Country of Origin and Materials, or Qualified for FTAs) with a lower-confidence status, you'll see a warning before proceeding. This prevents accidental overwriting of validated data.

Understanding Data Sources

After adopting trade data from a passport, you can see the source of each entry in your Catalog. Field provenance shows where adopted data came from, so you always know the origin of the information in your product profiles.

Renamed Field: Global HS6 Code

The field previously called "HS Code" on the primary product profile has been renamed to Global HS6 Code to distinguish it from the HS Codes tab in product profiles.
